The way to clean...

Monday, November 28th, 2022

We are fast coming to the month when we share and give more than at any other time of the year; and we at AG Cleaning Services are no different.

You might wonder where to start with cleaning – should you dust first or maybe hoover? Is bathroom a better to start than a living room? Why professional cleaners can be faster and more detailed they clean your House? Here are some secrets you can try.

First gather all your cleaning tools in one place, either bucket or tote – you will not waste time looking for tools while you clean and there are less chances you will leave it behind.

It is important to prepare your “work space” for cleaning, so before you even start go room to room and pick up any newspaper, clothes – anything that you believe is an obstacle. You may even find it therapeutic, and if you donate some of the stuff you feel better knowing you are also helping someone else. Don’t forget to bring all glasses to the kitchen and put into the dishwasher. Once you declutter you might even think the cleaning is done 🙂

Make sure that after decluttering you spray the kitchen sink, bathroom sink, baths and toilets with bleach (if safe). Let is sit for a few minutes so the product can dissolve any hard dirt and stains. Soak the hob with water and washing up liquid and clean the kitchen surfaces. Hob and sink in the kitchen; and toilet in the bathroom should be scrubbed last.

Decide a task and clean the whole house and not one room at a time. Wether it is mopping, dusting or vacuuming pick one task and do the same in the whole house rather than cleaning just bathroom, or living room. This will prevent carrying all tools and cleaning products to one room, and you will not feel like you are in endless cleaning cycle starting the same task over again.

Before you start dusting, make sure fans are turned off. Concentrate your dusting on the tops of furniture and the undersides of shelves, on handrails, picture frames, knickknacks and TV frames. For hard-to-reach areas, like blinds and upper shelves, tie a microfibre cloth to the end of a mop or broom. Change the sheets in the bedrooms before you vacuum.

Use one damp microfibre cloth, followed by one dry cloth in wiping clean all the mirrors and glass surfaces. We highly recommend not to use any glass cleaner. Just water will do – is faster, environment friendlier and simply cheaper

Use antibacterial spray or mix white or apple cider vinegar with water to wipe any hard surfaces like kitchen counter, appliances, cabinets, doorknobs, light switches etc. Make sure to pay more attention to the surfaces you touch more often like switches, phone or TV remotes.

Once you clean the kitchen and bathroom surfaces, dust and disinfect other rooms. Then you can focus on floors. Make sure you keep moving when you hoover. Make sure you change the head setting from hard to soft floor, if you move from a carpeted to wooden area. Otherwise you might scratch your wooden floor.

Some tasks do not need to be done every week – prioritise. If you have a cleaner on a regular basis most likely she/he would do skirting boards, clean windows inside so you don’t have to do that otherwise this can be done once a month.

Make sure you clean and segregate the cleaning products from time to time – you don’t want to end up with half empty 5 bottles of the same product. Make sure you wash cleaning cloths after each use.

And last advice make cleaning a group activity. Engage with your family or friends – it is a great fun, satisfaction and I can promise: you will burn more calories than at the gym.

Of course we are still here to help you if you would rather go for a run or a drink with friends. Our staff will do the magic in no time!
